So Suddenly I'm a Soccer Mom...

Hi! I'm Sarah, and I have some news for you.  I'm a part-time soccer step-mom. I'm not quite sure how it happened. 6 months ago, if you had asked me where I would be today, I would have told you I would still most likely be living in Wisconsin, working towards getting my nursing degree.

Instead, I live in Charlotte, NC. I work a demanding job that I love, but is definitely not nursing. At the beginning of March, I packed my life up and moved 800 miles south and started fresh after a divorce and approximately 18 months of life just really not going my way. I brought my two beloved dogs with me, and the three of us started a journey as transplanted Midwestern girls living in the steamy South. I started that new job I was talking about earlier, and rented a cute little apartment where I lived on my own for the first time in my 28 years on this earth.

Shortly after moving down here, I met the man of my dreams. Also a divorcé, we work in the same field, and have the same sense of humor. He's the peanut butter to my jelly, the macaroni to my cheese, the cake to my ice cream, and every other sappy metaphor you can think of. He's a father of three beautiful kiddos, and they're some awesome little rugrats. It started innocently enough. He has them every other weekend, so we did fun family activities. The zoo, the pool, movies and popcorn, etc. Then The Middle started asking asking if I could go to t-ball games with Deputy Dad. Then I started going to The Big's games when I could, since Deputy Dad and I work the same rotation. Eventually, The Little deemed me worthy. It's not without its kinks, as are all new situations, but all in all, it's pretty awesome.

Then it happened. Last week, I found myself picking all three children up from Deputy Dad's ex-mother-in-law and taking them to The Big's soccer practice. By myself. No Deputy Dad in sight. (Until he got off of work and met us at the soccer field. But still.)

So there you have it. A down and dirty rendition of how I went from sassy and single to (still sassy) but suddenly a (part-time) soccer mom... And I wouldn't change a thing about it. Feel free to follow along through this new journey and the building projects, craft projects, organizing projects, and I'm sure many other projects to follow!!
